5Excellent made in USA productJun 23, 2011
By Terry Crock
Well made, heavy steel parts made in the USA (Kentucky). Steel wheels too. No plastic junk. No thin sheet metal. The picture does not show it but the bolts and nuts to attach the wheels are included also.

However, the frame tubes on the bike I was going to put them on were too big for the part that keeps the training wheel bracket from pivoting around the axle. So I bought the 10252/252 model instead. They were perfect. They fit on bigger frame rails than the model 252. They also have adapters to fit on the smaller frame rails like the 252 does, so if you are not sure, go with the 10252/252 model training wheels. The model 252 will only fit frame rails up to 3/4 inch diameter. The 10252/252 will fit those and 1" frame rails. The frame rail I am talking about is the one that goes from the rear axle to the pedal cranks. Anyway, the model 10252/252 is sold here on Amazon also, and the price isn't different enough to matter.

Anyway, both the 252 and the 10252/252 model of Wald training wheels are a multitude of times better than the stuff that comes on your typical low-cost Walmart/Kmart bike. In fact, the original ones that came on my daughter's bike kept bending. I replaced them with Wald training wheels and have had no more problems.

5great wheelsApr 26, 2012

Purchase these for grandson, very strong construction, easy to put on bike. Great product! I would highly recommend this set of training wheels.

5Product is good, but Amazon's description could be better.Oct 02, 2011

These are definitely heavy duty training wheels. I would think that they would outlast most any kid using them and were far superior in quality to my local bike shop and any of the big retailers around me. Only problem I had was that the product description didn't specify what size axle they would fit on, and the bike my daughter is riding has 14mm axles on the rear, so I'll be sending these back. Luckily she picked up riding real quick and doesn't need any training wheels at all.

2Non fitting trainersJan 05, 2011

The wheel brackets are too small for the average 20" bike frame. Luckily my daughter didn't need them after all.

5Solid productAug 20, 2010

Plenty thick metal to support a lot of weight. The part that keeps the wheel arm from rotating on the shaft, which straddles the horz frame needed to be modified to allow for a non-round frame, but I can't blame the manufacturer for that. I doubt others have a mig welder to do what I did, but it works perfectly with my modification to the part to enlarge the opening between the "fingers". If you have a frame (the part just forward of the rear tire mounting area, parallel to the ground)that is no larger than about 7/8" then you should be fine. Nice, solid product. On a 16" bike with a 50lb. child.
