Great HandlebarDec 16, 2009
By John C. Pickeral I was looking for a handlebar for my mountain style bike that would allow me to sit up straight, easing my back issues. This bar was inexpensive and fills the need. It seems quite sturdy, although I mainly ride on bike paths rather than off road.

Tall guy on mountain bike is happyJan 07, 2011

First off, I am a semi-serious rider. I'm no pro, but I ride often enough to know I like this handlebar.
I am about 6-1 and on plenty of rides, I would feel that lower back pain associated with leaning over handlebars. With a mountain bike, the stock handlebar was barely raised. With that handlebar I was constantly leaning over, using upper body strength to keep myself in a safe riding position. When I put on the new bar, the difference was instantaneous. The new position is way more comfortable, and the back pain is more rare. I am definitely more vertical when I ride, and for me, that's a good thing.
This bar is raised kinda high. It is higher than I thought it was by looking at the picture. It somewhat resembles the handlebar of a beach cruiser, but not as exaggerated. For me, it worked out well, and I am very satisfied.
The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is this: the handlebar curves a little bit, forcing my wrists to turn outwards while riding. This would be beneficial to people who are shorter than me, but for me, it is a mild hindrance. I think its because this handlebar wasn't meant for mountain bikes, but I don't think I've ever seen black bars on a cruiser....o.O
If you are tall and you want a more comfortable riding position - get this!

Converted handle barsDec 30, 2009
By T. Smith The handle bars were just what I was looking for in order to convert my mountain bike to a more upright riding position. I now can use my bike for casual riding or for a quick trip to pick my son up from school.

Comfortable RidingJun 11, 2011
By RG This handlebar arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I installed it on a Fuji Absolute 3.0. Had to replace the cables. Made a mistake and got 4 brake cables, which worked fine for the brakes but would not work with the grip shift. Oh well, two more cables. These bars put me in a very comfortable riding position and I can see better with less neck strain. My other components are matte black but these are glossy black. I'm still happy with them. The rise is apparent in the photo, but what you cannot see is the bars angle back a bit after the rise so that your pinky finger is a bit closer to your shoulder than your pointer finger. A very natural position and I am pleased they were made that way.

Works as advertisedJun 05, 2011

This handlebar has relieved my growing back pain issue during and after riding. Held up well on my Trek MTB and did not require me to replace the cables which I thought I would have to do.
