4Smaller than anticipatedFeb 17, 2008
By M. Cardinale
This is a nice looking, very sturdy basket. I just wish the grate would have been smaller. The squares are approximately 1 1/2" by 1 1/2". Some small items fall through. I also wish I had paid more attention to the depth. It is somewhat shallow at 5". My fault though, the dimensions are included in the description.
It was easy to install, and does not rattle.

4sweet little basketMay 27, 2011

Sturdy and well made. I love this wald basket cause it is not as deep as some of the other. Perfect for everyday biking.
The black color matches my bike perfectly. The only thing I wish I could change would be the lenght of the support legs, they really are too long which makes the basket not 100% straight.
I added some wood slats to the bottom to stop smaller items from falling through and to make it a bit more fun. I know now that wald makes a basket with wooden slats at the bottom but i'm not sure i want to pay 60 bucks when this one here with added wood cost me 15 bucks.

I would buy this basket again in a heart beat

Actual inside dimensions are around L - 13inch W - 9inch

5Wald Basket - Great for my Electra AmsterdamJan 01, 2010
By G. Eliot "G. Eliot"
I was trying to figure out a way to upload a photo (as I think it's beneficial to see the basket on a real bicycle), but I can't figure out how to do this... so, I will just say that this basket worked great for my Electra Amsterdam bicycle. The size medium is perfect for me (I tend to throw my purse, a tool, and a bicycle pump in it), and it's not overwhelming to the bike. If you're looking for a deep basket, this one won't work, but it is definitely a great addition for my purposes. As some others have said, it did require some "fiddling" with to get it right as I have a generator and light on the bicycle, but with a little bend, it worked great. If you're not into bending things up though, then you may want to look for something else, if your bicycle has a generator as well.

As for Niagra Cycle, I think the speed of shipment was definitely sub par, and the packaging was wretched. The basket was just haphazardly thrown in a box, and arrived with a huge hole in it, so I'm surprised it didn't lose anything along the way. I didn't pay for expedited shipping, but I also don't think it should take two plus weeks for something to arrive via UPS ground.

**Updated to say: I was able to get a picture loaded at the top of the Amazon page for Niagra Cycle. I think it helps to see it on a bicycle to get a good idea of the size and depth.

4Nice Basket, just watch your handlebars!Oct 22, 2009

It's a really nice basket, but there are a few things you should be aware of. If you plan on using it on a bike with drop bars make sure the bars are wide enough that the basket will fit inside. I had to wedge mine in which sounds bad but I don't ever use the bottom sections of the bars anyway, I just rest my hands on the brake hoods. Also, the mounting hardware has the basket sitting quite high off the wheel. Again, this would be better suited for a bike with mustache or sweep bars. I had wanted to mount the rack just above the front wheel (below the drop bars), I still might but it's going to mean buying a little front rack or working on a custom hardware adaptation. But the basket is great and I find it really useful. Go for it!
