Decent chain toolFeb 18, 2010
By Brad G. This is a pretty good chain tool. I found it easy to use, and it's one of the cheapest tools available. I do have a small problem with over-driving the pins, so that they fall out the other side, and I have no idea how to get them back in. If you're careful this shouldn't be a problem. I don't know if more expensive tools would have a solution for this.
Pros: Portable, lightweight Easy to use Plastic holder keeps components together
Cons: Allen key can fall out when tightening / removing links (compare with Park tool, which cannot). Pin seems to have bent slightly after about a dozen uses (but I think replacement pins can be bought).
Overall I'd recommend, though I would compare with the Park Mini Chain Brute or Pedro's Chain tool first. Park Tool CT-5 Mini Chain Brute Chain Tool Pedro's Six-Pack Chain Tool 6-Function Bicycle Tool

AWESOME TOOL!Feb 26, 2012
By SkunkApeMan First off, I'm a newbie to the world of bike repair. Needed a new chain for my Next mountain bike because I put 1000 miles on the old chain and wore it out. I knew I'd need a chain break tool, and this one got good reviews and looked high quality. When it arrived and I opened the box I almost laughed out loud. The tool was so much smaller than I thought it would be. Online it looks like a hammer. In real life it's a little Elf's tool! LOL! But when I used it to install my new Shimano CN-HG50 6/7/8-Speed Chain, this thing worked like a shop quality tool. It's a real precision tool, yet very light. That makes it easy to feel when the chain pin snaps into place. And because it's so small and light weight, I'm gonna add it to my biking back pack just in case. I would definitely recommend this tool to a friend. It's well made and well worth the money.

Good solid tool and easy to use... does the job nicelyJan 15, 2011
By CD This is a nice little tool... strong, relatively light, easy to use. It is handy to use, especially because it comes with that small wire hook that works as a third hand and holds the chain as you fix the link. It has worked well for pin replacement. Probably my only niggle is that it is a stand alone tool and so it adds a bit of weight to your pack. If you would rather not have your chain tool as one of the tools on a multi-tool, this is a nice item to have.

Nice little chain breakOct 08, 2010
By J. K. Dresser Does what it is supposed to do. It is compact and easy to store. The Chain hook makes putting the chain back together easy.
Great so farApr 20, 2012
By Old timer I've only replaced one chain in my life, and I've done it with this tool. Even with my novice skills, everything was nice and easy. The little wire clip IS really handy when putting the chain back together. It lets you concentrate on the pin, instead of fighting to hold the chain in place. Also, the tool is shockingly tiny! but it still works great (at least it did the one time I used it).
