Best overall solution presta valve extenderFeb 18, 2007

Only need one extender to inflate many tires. With this Topeak presta valve extender, you do not need to leave in place the extender once it is installed, since this extender features a plunger that is used to tighten/untighten the the knurled nut on the existing presta valve.
Procedure I use: Screw the extender onto existing valve, push the plunger down to engage the valve nut, losen the nut and proceed to inflate. Once the tire is properly inflated, tighten the nut, disengage the plunger by pulling it up few milimeters, and remove the extender by unscrewing it. Repeat as necessary on as many tires as you wish.
If needed for competition conditions, you may use two extenders and leaving them in place on each tire for fast access. There is no need to use teflon tape with these extenders, since you are using the existing valve nut to close it down.
The only drawback with this product is, that you may not be able to tighten the presta valve's knurled nut real hard as you may have been accustomed to, and could become lose with road vibrations, thus leaking some air. This has not happened to me since the three months I have been using this valve extender.
Desperately needs an O-ring sealApr 15, 2012
By Al I could not get a good seal between the valve stem and the Topeak extension. I had to pump fast with a good floor pump just to stay ahead of the leakage. I tried tightening the extension, but it didn't seem to help. The package claims that there is an O-ring seal, but it didn't come with an O-ring, and there was no mention of an O-ring in the instructions. I inspected the extension with a magnifying glass to see if there was an O-ring inside of it, but there was not. The valve extensions that came with my Mavic wheels use a small O-ring that you place on the valve stem before you screw on the extension. They work very well and I have never had them leak. The down side is that the O-rings are very small, fragile and easy to loose if you drop one on the side of the road. I bought the Topeak extension hoping it would work without having to use an O-ring, but unfortunately it doesn't. I plan to look for some small O-rings and see if the Topeak valve extensions will work with them.
Oh dear oh dear!Apr 07, 2012
By nobby I rarely write reviews but felt compelled to do so for this product. I have been through about 5 of these in the last few years, the latest pair went yesterday when I was about 5 miles from he nearest train station and i got a flat, bothe extenders failed and broke. I wonder if topeak will refund me the price of a new pair of cleats?
It seems that the bit that attaches to the valve stem splits very easily.
I'll be using 80mm valve tubes from now on.
Works great with my Zipp 808 FirecrestsMar 08, 2012

I bought a pair of Zipp 808s and was pretty unhappy with the included Zipp extenders. I did some searching and found this extender had some mixed reviews.
These work uniquely in that they screw onto your existing presta valve (no need for a removable core). Then the little silver part actually screws/unscrews the valve to open it up for pumping. The thing about it is (and maybe why the reviews are mixed) is that I had different results depending on the actual pump I used. My more expensive pump worked much better than my off-brand one, so this is possibly why mileage has varied. The pump needs to form a good seal with the end of this extender, but once it does I have had zero problems getting a good solid read of tire pressure and it's been a breeze pumping them up.
I have 2 of these so I leave them screwed in all the time. The great thing is I can use normal valve length tubes instead of buying ones with really long extensions. I just screw this extender on real good, then put the tube in my tire. It is more than long enough to accommodate my Zipp 808s (which are very deep).
Mehh, does not really work, cheap plastic insidesNov 18, 2011

The extender looks good on the outside, but the threading inside the extender is a plastic insert (too weak to hold a seal or hold on the bike over time) so if you Teflon tape and then try & really snug it down the treads will pop in the extender, thus making a bad seal and something that will likely fall off later. You want an extender with a machined thread, not a cheapo plastic insert.
