Doesn't fit a large downtubeNov 04, 2009
By Frederick P. Leaf The product was good at its price, however there was no warning that it would not fit a downtube on a typical carbon fiber bike. Also, there is no "adapter" piece. As a result I had to return it. Should try the Pro or Elite if you have such a bike

It works!Oct 29, 2009

For an in-shop bicycle stand, there are better choices. But for portability, and at the price, this is a winner. It works! And you can fold it up and easily take it with you to work on your bike where ever you need to do that.

satisfied buyerJun 17, 2009

I did not want to spend a lot of money for a repair bicycle stand, but my 20 year old bike was overdue for an overhaul. A friend recommended this stand and I'm happy I bought it. It is very stable and it could hold different types of bikes. I ordered it from Bicycle Heaven, a store in New York City and they were very professional and reliable.

Well... The downtube-cradle-hook is _almost_ a good idea...Jul 27, 2010

I wanted to like this stand. Light, folds into a small bag, good enough height adjustment... but... the thing works by setting the bottom bracket into a "v" spot and laying the down-tube on a "cradle" of sorts, with a hook that screws down over. Which is fine... sometimes. Maybe 50% of the time. For example, my daughters Specialized Hotrock Street 24 has a curved downtube... which would _almost_ work... but the cradle/v thing is lower in the middle between the plastic areas, causing the tube to be so low the hook won't grip it. Basically, it is just a bad design. There is NO WAY it is EVER going to grip a bike as securely as a clamp jaw like that used on MOST other repair stands... After all, it is just one plastic coated hook holding the bike against the "cradle" thing, which is just not that grippy itself. I have already ordered another stand for $35 more, wish I had done that in the first place... Probably it is fine for basically all standard old-school road bikes with 531 tubing... But really, it just isn't a good design of clamp. Also, you can't adjust the angle of the bike at all- it is what it is based on the down-tube angle. I don't exactly _hate_ it (one star), but, it fails to meet my needs (family of 4, 6 workable bikes) enough to call it sunk costs and buy another one.

Gets the job done but not so versatileJun 10, 2011
By martrom For maintenance that requires some torque/leverage, this stand is hard to work with. The hook for the downtube is useless unless you have something fat enough for it to grip but thin enough to fit in the chassis. I wind up wrapping old tire tube around the middle of the downtube to try to get it to hold on to the bike, but it still tends to want to tip it from side to side. For the price, it is ok; I would probably spend a little more if I had the choice to make again. For frequent maintenance this stand can be frustrating, but for minor tune-ups it works.
