Teach your child - Save your back!Jul 18, 2006
By Angela Klunk
"readymom"
I used this product to teach my son to ride his bike without training wheels. I have some low back issues and could not bend down to hold on to the back of his seat to hep him balance. With the Ready Rider, I could walk or jog along side of him and hold on to the bar. It made it so much easier on me and calmed his fears about falling. He knew I could "catch" him if he started to fall. He took to riding very quickly and is now a "big boy" riding with all his friends. I highly recommend this product.

Really helps; bargain priced.Mar 20, 2007
By R. Jensen My son was entirely hostile to the idea of riding bikes. Every riding session would end in tears and frustration. I found the Ready Rider on Amazon browsing for anything that might help. I realized that I could not hold my son steady for long because it is so awkward to hold under the seat (he is also large for his age). I reasoned that the handle would allow us to concentrate on balance without having to worry about falling. The tips e-mailed by Ready Rider were helpful, too.
After our first session, my son admitted it was kind of fun and I knew we were on the way. After about 6 sessions, we were ready to remove the handle and move it to my younger son's bike.
Regarding assembly of the black rubber handle, it helps to lubricate the inside with some water and twist it on. The water will just evaporate.
I wouldn't want to teach without it!

Ready Rider review - teacfh child to ride bikeMay 13, 2007
By B. Altman I have used it a few times with my son and it is working well though my son has not yet learned to ride by himself (needs more time).
One thing I will say is that for the bike I bought from Walmart to use with the Ready Rider, it was not a perfect fit (troublesome for this bike to install) though I assume that this bike is the exception. I finally managed to get it by having the seat at a bit of an angle to allow the bar to attach to it. My son didn't mind and otherwise it all works fine. --- UPDATE: In the end my son learned how to ride on his own without this gadget. We removed it and put the seat low enough so that he could put his feet down when he felt he was falling. In less than a day he was riding on his own - as easy as that. A guy in a bike store recommend we do that.

good for your backJan 04, 2007
By Benny It doesn't make learning any easier for the child, but is good for your back...
Definitely recommended.
Ready Rider is simply fantasticJun 09, 2008
By Ron S. I was looking for a way to teach my five year old how to ride her bike without training wheels. After finding the Ready Rider online it took only four days and about 45 minutes per outing for her to be completely self sufficient. You can help as much or as little as necessary; it just depends on your child. She was riding on her own for long spurts by day two but didn't realize it because of the simple, out of sight design. It is also very easy on the back and knees due to the high angle of the bar. I have probably help sell 20-30 of the Ready Riders simply telling other parents at neighborhood kids park how easy it is to install and use. If you notice a spike in sales in the Chicago area... send me a commission. Great product that should have been readily available in my local area bike stores but none carried it. Ron
