Good replacement - especially to match with SRAM shiftersMar 29, 2011
By Kiwi I upgraded the twist shifters on my son's Haro with SRAM 3.0 Comp shifters and although SRAM and Shimano front derailleurs are supposed to be compatible, the stock Shimano derailleur on the bike would not shift onto the large cog.
So I bought the 42 Teeth version of this SRAM derailleur. It was installed in bottom pull configuration (it can be either top or bottom pull). It installed without a hitch and the shifting works well. It seems to be well built for the price.
The only thing that I'd be wary of is the statement that it "Fits 28.6mm seat tubes as well as 31.8mm and 34.9m" Mine came with a single plastic spacer that enabled it to fit on our 28.6mm seat tube. However, I don't know what the stock size is (i.e. without a spacer) and there was not a second spacer included in the packet that would have done 31.8 mm if the stock size is 34.9mm.
