Good shifter setOct 29, 2008
By T. Gehman I bought these to replace my broken set. They installed easily and work well. I was very impressed with the included hardware, which was not mentioned in the description. My packaged included: left and right shifters, shifter cables, replacement cable sheaths, cable ends, and a detailed maintenance manual. The product picture however, does not exactly match my shifters, as there are no break levers, and the shifting mechanism looks different. I will post a picture of my installed shifters in the future.

What is pictured is not what is sent.May 24, 2010
By D. Felton I needed new shifter for my 2001 Schwinn Sierra. Researched to find the type I needed (SIS), then the style. The pictured items should have been perfect for my needs. Though they sent the items quick enough and they fit and function decent, it wasn't until after I installed them that I realized they did not fit quite as well as I thought they would. Then I noticed that the numbering on the rear (right) shifter was in reverse to my original. Instead of being 1 thru 7 it was 7 thru 1. Still functioned okay, but just odd. Though I don't use the numbers for shifting, it is odd when just using them for reference to what gear you are in when preparing for something upcoming. When I inquired, the seller said I might have them installed wrong. Duh, sorry, only one way to install them and still make them work. They asked me to send pictures to 'help'. I spent time taking pictures and sizing and attaching them for e-mail transmission. It was about then, while looking up other things up that I noticed these sent were not the same as the picture in the advertisement. While sending the pictures, I also inquired about the 'swapping' of correct pictures or sale items. Never heard another word, though I sent the pictures and inquiry again to make sure they got them. There is already one review stating that what that person received is not the same as pictured, but I just thought it was one of those things. Apparently it is a regular things with this seller and they don't really care as long as they are making money. As with so many self proclaimed professionals, in this case for bike parts and maintenance, the only requirement to be 'pro' is proclaiming that you are. Not the worst thing I ever bought, but fit and visualization, or appearance, would have been better if I had received what they originally had listed for sale. Your call!!
All is greatJun 21, 2011
By Exalted99 I just bought what was already on the bike. The shifters are good and work well, easy to install. They aren't the most rugged things so if you ride hard and tend to spend sometime going onto your side and or over the handlebars, you may want to find something a little more shock resistant. Otherwise, a good product. I would buy it agian for the price.
Not a good Grip ShifterSep 02, 2010

I bought this grip shifter dispite the other reviews. When it arrived I put it on my Trek 700. It has Shimano rear and front derailers. The grip shifter for the front worked but was really fussy about shifting 3-2. Then the grip shifter for the rear I didn't even put on. The numbers 1-7 on the grip shifter were in opposite order. If you are going to get these grip shifters I would recommend you get the front and rear derailers for them. I returned these grip shifters and went with Sram MTX comp. Hopefully those will work better.
These shifters are junk.May 19, 2010
By J. McClain Came standard with my Trek. After about 150 miles of LEVEL trail riding, the rear shifter starts jumping all over the place. Had bike tuned up at Trek. After a few more rides, problem repeated. I could hear it coming on as the rear cassette would gradually get more and more noisy as I rode, finally, gears start jumping. Took it to another bike shop, he tried valiantly twice to adjust the rear derailler, but the shifter won't allow the adjustments to hold because the cable keeps shifting. One look at the internal construction shows why; the plastic finger fits into a plastic slot and the whole thing is too damned cheap and soft. These shifters suck! If you can manage to get it into a gear (forget gears on the inside or outside, you can only select the middle few) it wont hold the gear you've selected unless you continually twist a bit to change the cable tension. Not too cool when this requires you to be very careful about your hand positioning. Which brings up another issue; the mounting collar is so damned wide an adult males hands wont fit on the grips without making constant contact with the shifter collar. If you get these, plan on using handlebar extenders alot!!!
