Best cable cutter I have usedDec 16, 2009
By Jee Chung I am a home bicycle mechanic with over 20 years of experience including professional shop experience. Prior to purchasing this tool, the Shimano cutter was my standard. This new tool is by far the most effective cable cutter I have tried. It cuts all bicycle cables cleanly and easily. The large handles have good grip and provide excellent leverage for effortless operation.

The Very BestJul 30, 2008
By Ben Abney I've been bicycling and working on bikes since Moses was in knee pants and always had trouble with getting cable cutters to work well, until I discovered these -- which were recommended to me by the mechanic at my local bicycle shop. It's not the most expensive cable cutter out there, just the best one. He said they were better than Campys. I don't know for sure because I never wanted to pay the price for Campagnolo cutters.
I had previously purchased Pedro's tire levers and discovered they were far and away the best tire levers I'd ever used. With this purchase Pedro's tools now have a mystique with me. I recommend them without reservation.

Great cutter -- solid valueMay 15, 2011
By Christopher Baskind This is a beautiful cable cutter. When I worked in a shop, we mostly used Park. But my last bike tool purchase was Pedro's pedal wrench, which is solid, so I decided to try this.
The Pedro's cutter feels more solid in my hand than the Park. I love the spring, and the locking mechanism is less likely to become unhooked in a cluttered toolbox than Park's handle loop.
It slices through heavy cable housing evenly, and without flatting. All this tool is missing is a ferrule crimper, but pliers will do the job. I'll watch to see how the cutting head holds up. But I'm very satisfied with Pedro's Bicycle Cable Cutter so far.

Awesome cable cutterMar 15, 2011

"Have Raleigh, will travel"
This is a very slick and well-made unit. It cuts through inner cable or housing like it was butter.
I'm an electrician and resisted buying a bicycle cable cutter as the tools I had on hand were doing an OK job. I had the occasional issue with some housings but nothing that a second cut usually didn't cure and maybe opening it back up with a scratch awl so I figured I didn't need to spend cash on a dedicated tool.
But this tool does such a nice job that I had to buy it once I held one in my hands. This is a top-quality hand tool. The locking mechanism is a very slick design as is the return spring. It can be easily manipulated and used with one hand leaving the other hand free to hold the cable. The locking cam opens and closes effortlessly with one-hand operation and the spring is designed so that there is no way it can pinch your hand or catch your clothing. The blades are very sharp and don't chip or dull and cut well so there aren't many issues with cable housing coils collapsing. Even if it does get that slight twist sometimes the tool has a deep notch so that you can nip the curlie-cue off easily and get that nice flat & smooth terminal end to the housing that you want. The handle has a luxurious soft-but-durable yellow rubberized grip over a wide curved handle so it is comfortable to use and doesn't dig into your fingers or palm. This cutter has the high-end feel of an expensive electrical tool like those that Klein or Ideal makes.
I'd recommend this tool to anyone who is getting into working on their own bicycles. It'll last you a lifetime if you take care of it and keep it dry and safe.
This is a true 5-star tool. You really can't go wrong with Pedro's or Park tools. This happens to be the best cable tool I've seen.
