2Bike chain cassette brushApr 17, 2009
By perrymasonary "perrymasonary"
I purchased this brush to clean our bicycle chain and cassette. While it is good for digging out dirt inside the cassette with the plastic end, the brush did not stand up too well after about 4 uses. I used bicycle recommended degreaser first to loosen the dirt and grime on the cassette and then the brush to remove it. While some brush hairs fell out, the brush lost shape. I went back to an old tooth brush, much more economical.

For the price for a brush probably made in China for 50 cents this brush could be said to be over priced.

Park Tools may want to rethink the marketing of this brush as I have some of their tools and have no complaint.

1Gear Cleaning BrushSep 03, 2011

The concept of the tool is great, but the first time I used the tool it broke. The brush bristles are held in poorly by a small plastic piece which snapped when very little pressure was applied.

1Cheap plasticSep 16, 2011

The problem with the design is that the brush head is held in by 2 thin plastic tabs, which are part of the one piece plastic handle. One of the plastic tabs broke on the very first use. This lets the brush head slide out of the handle and makes it useless. Cheaply made brush. It will definitely break sooner rather than later.

5Very Handy ToolJan 17, 2009

This gear cleaning brush is an essential part of my kit. While the brush is useful (a toothbrush would suffice), the thing I like best is the hooked end. It is perfect for cleaning in between the teeth of your rear freewheel or cassette.

2Good in theory onlyOct 25, 2011

The brush was included in the Park Tool Chain Cleaning kit that I bought. I used it one time and went back to using the round parts washing brush that I bought at an Auto Parts store for $2.00. The $2.00 brush works much better and the handle is much more comfortable to use because the Park Tool brush's teeth digs into a person's hand.
