It's long enough to give you adequate leverage for installing the cups with the force you need. The precisely shaped metal teeth of the BBT-9 won't damage the teeth on your BB cups provided you use it with care. The small end of the BBT-9 has what looks like a plastic wheel on it. This is actually, the splined plastic tool that you'll need for the spindle bolt to preload the bearings on your Hollowtech crankset. Otherwise, the Park Tool BBT-9 is compatible with Shimano Hollowtech II, FSA Mega Exo, SRAM GXP, and most other external bearing bottom bracket cups.

Park Tool Quality SpeaksMar 09, 2010
By MJ Park Tools are quality. If you need a BB tool for Hollowtech or other compatible external bearing bottom brackets, this is the one to get. But you probably already knew that. The little plastic end wheel for removing crank arms works OK, but not nearly as well as the business end with the big teeth. Positive grip without worry of damaging the cups or scratching the frame.

Works as advertisedFeb 02, 2012
By Li It's pretty much the essential tool for servicing hollowtech ii type bottom brackets. Easy to use, great grip. However be careful to make firm contact with every tooth on the BB before turning, or it may strip the tooth on the bottom bracket easily.

One Stop SolutionMay 05, 2010
By Peter Moore I looked at my other options to change out an external bottom bracket crank and this was the only one stop solution. This tool worked perfectly and I couldn't be more satisfied.

Decent Park Tool, but I Don't like the Cap ToolJun 09, 2011
By phillyhouse This tool works well to get the bottom bracket apart, but the plastic spindle remover does not provide enough surface to grab onto to remove stuck-on caps. Park Tool makes a metal tool for this also (BBT-10) that looks like a big wing nut. In hind sight I should have bought that as well. Most of the time those caps are stuck on there really tight. The BBT-10 would make it much easier to get the cap off. From personal experience, I highly recommend it in addition to this tool.
All you need for your Hollowtech BBMay 17, 2012
By SMXSteve This is all you need to replace your Hollowtech bottom bracket and it works great. The black tool on the one end removes the cap on the crank. And if you know what you are doing it will easily remove the bottom bracket. It was so simple to do!
