I don't typically gush on reviews but these tires are actually amazing. For this review I think it is important to provide information about my riding. I log over 150 miles per week on a fixed gear through honest-to-goodness hard city riding. I am an ex-bicycle mechanic who runs a 96" gear. I ride hard, fast and unapologetically in rush-hour traffic. I run a single front brake and I can break the back tire loose at will but I prefer to stay hooked up to stop. My ride takes me through three (actual) rough neighborhoods that are just a sea of broken glass and road debris. Most of the neglected streets between my work and home are a mix of broken concrete (providing nice sharp edges) and old asphalt (offering a never ending supply potholes). I rotate the tires from front to back to balance wear and I am very careful about cleaning the tires when I ride. I will (and have) take broken glass in the hand over letting it get pushed into the tire over a couple of revolutions. Now for the tires. I have run these tires for about a year now without a single flat. These tires are bombproof but function like performance tires; two qualities that are typically exclusive to each other. The tires roll fast and they are reasonably light for what they are. The carcass is stiff and tracks predictably through hard cornering. The rubber compound stays connected to the ground (wet or dry) like it is soft but wears well. I have ridden these tires through broken bottles and car accident glass and I don't know if it has just been dumb luck but I have come through spots unscathed when I was sure I would be changing a flat. Just in the last two weeks I was done in by a 1/4 shard of pvc pipe followed the next week by a sharp piece of window glass. I realized when I changed the tire that I had cord showing. I immediately purchased a new set of these tires and I will continue to purchase these tires in the future. With attention to how road hazards are managed these tires should really hold up. I love them.
