1Not for road bikesApr 13, 2007
By Brad P
Fell apart with in hours. The vibration of a raod bike is just too much for this little bell. I had it in the end of a pair of carbon drop bars. Had to use electrical tape to get it to fit tight enough. Even then it ended up just falling apart in about 50 miles of riding.

3A good bell for drop bars.Oct 30, 2008
By U.G.N. "alway"
After purchasing an Incredibell Duet and learning that the clamp was too small (and not adjustable) to fit onto my road bike handlebars, I exchanged it for this Bar End version instead. Overall, I like this bell because it's inconspicuous and located in a spot that's convenient to reach. However, the plastic bits have a cheapish feel and the bell has an annoying habit of ringing by itself--caused by the internal strike being jostled when riding over slight bumps in the pavement. Regardless, the bell sounds great and works well.

1Incredibells Are Great, Just Not This OneMay 31, 2010
By Birdzone "JT"
The standard, original bell is excellent. I needed a bell for the carbon aero bars on my road bike and the original would not fit. I tried the Bar End bell and it just rang all the time on rough pavement. I got the Road Bell that fits on Shimano levers and it attached quickly and cleanly and is well positioned. I would like to add that Mirrycle seems to be a great company.

2Seems like a better idea than it isMar 02, 2010

I was very excited to get this but it turns out it has some major flaws and I no longer use it. Here are the three main ones:

1. It rings every time you go over a bump. And not just big bumps like going off a sidewalk - it rings everytime you go over a crack in the road, which in New York, is about every ten feet. it is easy enough to forget about this constant ringing, but the person riding in front of you doesn't know you aren't doing that on purpose and it can make for some awkwardness.

2. It is hard to get it to ring when you actually want to use it. Getting it to ring is not just a matter of touching the outer rotating part: if you don't push it far enough it won't ring, if you don't pull your hand away fast enough it won't ring. I practiced and I got good enough that I could make it make a sound regularly, but not good enough that i could consistently use it when I needed it. Personally, when someone has their back to me and is about to walk in front of me, I would rather use my voice and make sure to get their attention than a bell which may or may not sound.

3. The rotating part is much wider than road handlebars, so if you lean your bike against a wall, the bell will be the first thing to make contact. This leads to it coming loose a fair amount, and it just makes it less elegant than it might be if it didn't protrude the way it does.

5Convenient BellJul 04, 2008
By W. Okada
I commute on a multi-use path and got tired of calling out when passing joggers, walkers, etc. This bell is conveniently positioned at the end of my bar drop and all I do is just give a twist. The bell produces a loud distinct double ring to warn people of my approach - simple - no more shouting "on your left".
