1Knog Bag is a Dog, Definitely not NeatMar 23, 2010
By Jeffrey A. Cochrane
Alas, this bag is already in the trash. It was a struggle to fit onto a very standard bike, and even then, didn't fit well. The primary innovation is that it works without a bike rack over the rear tire. A major flaw, actually, is that it requires that you NOT have a bike rack over the rear tire. It also doesn't hang well, making it a not-so-good garment bag. But the main flaw is that it simply doesn't fit well on a standard bike. Clever thinking, but the product isn't quite right. Message to Knog: Back to the drawing board.

There are two other bicycle garment bags on the market that are MUCH better. I used a Bushwacker for years (8 to be precise) until the cloth finally wore through. When I tried to replace it, I couldn't find one. After a search on the Internet, I found the Knog was the only one I could purchase through Amazon, so decided to give it a try -- mistake! Within a month, I was searching for a replacement.

Then I found the Nashbar. Excellent!!! Doesn't seem to be available through Amazon. Not sure why -- other Nashbar products are available on Amazon. Fortunately, the Nashbar bike garment bag can be found directly from the Nashbar website.

And my bike rack is back on the bike.

1Nice in theory, impossible to figure out how to useJan 31, 2011

Just started bicycle commuting and thought these would be an great way to pack my work clothes in a wrinkle-less bag. Yeah it looks like they would work, but they don't include any instructions on how to install and their website is even worse. I hate to be crude, but their website is more appropriate to someone looking for pictures of Asian lesbians than a serious cycling site. Would NOT recommend to anyone and unless they respond back quickly with instructions, will be returning.

4In all honesty....Nov 03, 2010
By Brett Moody
I've wanted one of these for a while and now I've got one. I would have got one sooner but the MSRP when these things were new was, in my opinion, too high at $299 for the American market (might be why Knog's not a player in . At $80, it was a bargain, and looking back at it, I would have paid more.

I've had it for about 2 weeks now and I've used it during my work commute and it's done everything I've asked of it: Carries my laptop snugly and securely, and helps me arrive at work neat and pressed, with the bare minimum of wrinkles.

There is a bit of a learning curve in regards to how to mount it. I've found that yes, you can just "rest" the internal frame on the mounts, but you run the risk of heel striking the bag, causing it to dump off your frame, but if you apply a little force, you can get the frame to "seat" in the mounting attachments and it's good to go. When it's pushed down into the mounting hardware, it's got a firmly attached feeling.

As an urban bag, it's got a good design and look, tons of pouches in the side pockets for your grooming gear, so if you ride it to the gym, you can bring your clothes and grooming products with you and leave the gym straight for dinner, either walking or riding.

Only detractors I've found thus far: Due to the mounting geometry and the nature of a "rackless" system, it's got some sway while you're riding. Not enough to effect me, but enough to be noticeable, but if you're used to riding with panniers or a load on your bike, this shouldn't effect you. The other issue is the narrowness of the actual compartment. It's narrower than a standard hanger, but I've found that using 10" hangers gets you around this.

I like the garment bag option and the concept enough, I'm considering some other or Knog's Rackless bags as purchases in the near future.

3decent but not great...Jul 04, 2011

I purchased this Pannier/Garment bag because it looked like a neat concept, in that you didn't need a big rack on your bike to have a garment bag. However, once I received the product I was surprised that the 'rackless' part meant that you had to put some cheap plastic clips on your back bike fork help on by zip ties. They work okay most of the time but a few times when I had more than one pair of shoes in the bag the clips could not hold the bag off of the back tire completely and there was rubbing. For the most part the bag delivers on what it promises and I was able to put decent work clothes in for my short bike ride to my bus stop. If I wanted to forego the 'rackless' part I could always just heft the bag over my shoulder using the sturdy 'messenger' style seat-belt clasp and then there were no problems. I will also note that the bag didn't fit most of the hangers I got from my dry cleaners. Don't know if this is an Aussie thing that 'down under' the hangers are smaller or not but once I secured a set of travel bag hangers to use all was okay.

All in all a good value for the price I paid. This was a 2008 model so maybe some of these issues have been fixed in later models.
