These work great for use in areas that are already lighted. They work well for cars and others to see you in low light or at night. However if you want to use them for getting to and from areas that are not well lighted i would recommend getting one of the larger bulb offerings from Knog. They make several others that are slightly more expensive but deliver a brighter light.

I commute to work by bicycle, and I work the night shift. These little lights are a wonderful safety product. They have both a static setting as well as different strobe settings, but I recommend the strobe setting for night riding, as it makes the rider much easier for drivers to see. The white light goes on my handlebar, and the red one I place facing the rear on my seat post. These little lights can be easily removed by thieves if you're locking your bike up outdoors, so I remove them when I have to lock up my bike outside.
Another nice feature is you can purchase replacement batteries locally (and inexpensively). These lights are well worth the price, and substantially reduce the risk of being hit by a car, which is the nightmare scenario for any cyclist.
All things considered, an exceptional value, and a great gift for friends who ride bikes.

The design of these little lights is great but I've had one major problem with them. I've gone through two pairs and they've both had the same issue. Both pairs would go through batteries like crazy even though they were brand new. They would always just turn on all by themselves whether they were on my bike or just sitting on my desk. At first I thought the batteries must have been bad so I bought new ones and then I ended up buying a new set of lights thinking I just got a bad set. Unfortunately both sets had the exact same problem. From seeing other reviews apparently I'm not the only one who has had this same issue. These lights would be really great if only Knog would fix this problem.

I've had knog frogs for a couple of years now. They are durable and visible for low-light riding. My old frogs were getting a bit worn out with heavy usage so it was time to get some new ones. These seem a bit brighter but have the same funky design aesthetic. The price was right as well.
