4In Response to Gary HennemuthJun 13, 2011

These are the exact tires that came on my 2009 Schwinn Fastback from Amazon.com. I got the last one in the 'large' frame size. Mr. Hennemuth stated that he ran the tires at 90-95 psi. He ran them UNDER-inflated! It states right on the sidewall of the tire - 125 psi. He also stated, "less than 220 lbs" on the bike. I weigh a whopping 260 & have had only one non-related problem. It was the cheapo rim strips Schwinn installed on the wheels instead of better rim tape. So I got a flat tire due the cheap rim strip giving way - not a nail, or glass, or road debris. Problem now solved using Velox Adhesive Bicycle Rim Tape.

Keep them inflated properly & use rims tape instead of rim strips & you should have no problems. Remember this is a slick tread - high pressure tire designed for going faster on smooth, dry roads. Getting caught in an unexpected rain shower this morning was a real adventure.

As an 'ex' Good-Year employee I can tell you, 90% or more of all tire failures are due to UNDER-inflated tires.

2Bulge at 400milesNov 12, 2010

Replaced at 400mi. due to a bulge. Inside wall was not broken, nevertheless..... I weigh 160 and only ride smooth asphalt.

5Good all round tire.May 24, 2011

These came stock on my KHS road bike. They had a tight, precise, perfectly round fit & I can change them with my bare hands. They aren't great in any area but, I like them because they do everything well enough: resist punctures, roll easy, lighter than a 28c tire, not prone to pinch flatting & absorb bumps in the road. The actual size is closer to 28c than 25c. When the rear tire wore out, I had to buy a Serfas 25c wire bead & it looks much smaller than this tire.

I ride in San Francisco for transportation & usually Marin county for 40-70 mile recreational rides. With all my stuff I weigh 170lbs. The rear gave up after 16 months. The center had been worn flat for awhile. The front still looks OK. I wish these were easier to come by. I just found & bought a new pair on ebay for a bargain.

5A great value for the money, and a quality tire.....Mar 21, 2010

I first bought these tires used two years ago to put on my 2001 Sirrus comp bike. The Mavic CXP21 rims were not handling 700x23 well at all, and if I didn't get a flat, I constantly found myself replacing spokes because the condition of the roads in Columbus, Ohio is spotty at best. Since I don't live in the suburbs I needed a tire that could handle the rough roads, and protect my rims. I haven't needed another replacement since using these Kenda contenders, and bought new ones for my true road bike, a red Nishiki Olympic 12. I have no problems with flats, and they handle as well as some tires costing more, and rain and wet conditions pose no problems. I recommend using the 700x26 size, my personal favorite.

1very disappointedOct 07, 2010

I'm not looking for superlative performance from a $20 tire but they should last a few miles. I bought 4 of these tires. I ride a short 10 mile commute on normal asphalt road surface, moderate temperatures, less than 220 lbs with bike, and inflate to 90-95 psi. First pair of tires deformed within 500 miles and had unrideable bulges within a few months. The third tire ripped off the bead on first inflation and fourth tire is already warping after having it on the rim for a week. Significantly more flats on the first pair than with gatorskins.
