Baby Snuggler is GreatApr 17, 2010
By Dudley Witt I found the Burley Baby Snuggler to be a great addition to the Solo trailer I have. When you child is not big enough for the regular support system that comes with the trailer the snuggler is a must. It holds the baby tight and comfortable. I recommend it highly.

Essential for Smaller ChildrenMar 18, 2012

I struggled to find consistent information on this product, so I purchased this with some hesitation. We own a Burley Solo and the seat was used in the Solo.
First, there is some debate as to whether or not this can be used while biking & skiing vs. just strolling or jogging. The Burley website contradicts itself on this issue as well. As an example, if you go to this link: (...) the user manual says for use with kids 3-12 months and no jogging. However, the manual included with the seat says 6-24 months and "consult a pediatrician to determine if a child is of sufficient developmental age to be carried in a bicycle trailer." It looks like there are some model year compatibilities listed, but no snuggler model numbers. The tag on the actual product I received says it can be used while jogging, strolling, or biking for kids aged 6-24 months. The main concern is whether or not your child is developmentally ready to sit in the trailer/jogger/stroller to be jostled around. After purchasing and using this product, I think it's essential for use with younger children, especially considering the lack of support in Burley's traditional seat construction.
The outer fabric along the back of the seat is polyester, the webbing in the seating surface is polyester and nylon, and the foam inside the seat is polyurethane. The seat is much more like the removable/washable skin of a car seat rather than a structured seat. It could also be compared to a car seat insert for a newborn. It can fold and be rolled and has little structure.
The seating surface is a breathable webbed material, much like you would find on backpacks with padding. It has holes so it's meant to breathe and transfer heat. This material makes up the entire front of the seat. The left and right sides have about an inch of foam padding in the torso and hip/upper thigh area. There is no foam for the child's bottom, lower back, or head. However, there is a small square of foam for the child's neck. There are pass throughs at shoulder height for your trailer's shoulder harnesses, and one pass through in the seat for the buckle. No additional belts are included with this seat. The straps you see pictured in the stock image belong to your trailer. The seat does come with 2 columns of padding that go around the shoulder straps to protect the child's skin from chaffing. The belt padding is made of the same web/foam material as the seat.
There are two straps not pictured in the image. They are on the outside of the seat along the sides. The bottom part of the strap attaches to the lower portion of the seat while the top portion attaches to the upper portion of the seat. These straps control how "wide" the seat opens up. In order to pull the sides in and "snuggle" the child more, one would contract the straps. This is a really well thought out feature that further secures the child and was a pleasant surprise.
The back of the seat has velcro that runs from the bottom to the top portion at shoulder level. I assume this is to help keep the seat connected to the padding on the Burley seat. We don't have that padding installed, so I couldn't test how well this works. There's also a draw string that tightens/loosens the material where the child's head rests. One would loosen it if the child is wearing a helmet so the child's head isn't pushed forward as far. One would tighten it to add support to a child's head while not wearing a helmet.
The construction of the seat is excellent. All the seams line up well and it looks and feels durable.
Installation of the seat was very easy. All you do is pull the trailer straps through the seat. The first time we put it in the trailer the seat kept folding over, I assume b/c we didn't have the padding for the velcro to stick to. However, it wasn't too big of a deal and we quickly figured it out.
Our 6 month old 20 lbs child fit well and we didn't need to adjust the sides. We went for a 10 minute ride and he didn't hear any complaints. The strap padding was a bit stiff and long, but he didn't mind. I assume they will become more flexible as they are used more.
After comparing the ride with the snuggler to what it would have been like to use the trailer without the snuggler, I can't imagine trying to put a child in the trailer without the snuggler. It adds much more safety and support. I would compare this to sitting in the bucket seat of a sports car vs. sitting on a bench seat. Even for a bigger child, I can see them sliding around with a standard Burley seat. The extra padding and support with the straps adds comfort and safety.
This is really what a Burley seat should be from the factory. As an accessory, I would feel comfortable paying $30-40 for the equipment considering the materials and build. From a simple "what you get" perspective, it's way overpriced. However, we wouldn't be able to use our trailer (a significant investment in itself) without the seat, so from a practicality standpoint, it's priced right. Again, this should have been included from the factory.
Pros: Padding Support Added safety Easy to install/remove Some useful features
Cons: Expensive Strap covers Would have liked to see more vent holes

Burley Baby SnugglerFeb 08, 2012
By LittleMama It's well made but is definately for older babies with very good head control. I was hoping to get my 3 month old baby in (even though the manufactuers say 6mth+) but on testing the product, it's not worth the risk. The snuggler is only fitted via the existing straps. It's a booster seat, not an infant sling (such as made by croozer).

Great for little ones.Jul 01, 2011
By mom of 2 My youngest daughter hated riding in the trailer and slid around until we got this seat for her. It gives her a little bit of cushion and keeps her in a comfortable position. She now enjoys riding in the trailer. We have used this product for about a year now with no complaints. In my opinion this seat is great for ages 6 months to 18 months. Product is high quality and shows no wear after 1 year of moderate use.

Works, but a bit uncomfortable for babySep 13, 2011
By Off2Go I have had and used the Burley Baby Snuggler for 3 months. I have only used it with my Cub in stroller mode, as my infant is still too small for a bicycle helmet. It definitely helps his tiny frame fit snug in the trailer. However, he gets very sweaty and hot while sitting in the Snuggler. I am not sure if it is just from the being in the trailer, or if the Snuggler just doesn't breath well. Additionally, because it folds in half, it is challenging to get him into the Snuggler sometimes because it does not stay open well without holding it. Once in, he looks a bit squished. Despite these issues, I would recommend it for infants over 6 months (since it does push the baby forward a bit) because it ensures that your baby won't bounce around the seat.
